Meet Dr. James DePietro

Dr. DePietro states, "I had a back injury at the age of 12 while working for my father and, initially, tried main-stream medical treatment which included rest and medication." My back pain worsened and my parents took me to a chiropractor. The chiropractic doctor did a thorough examination and then I received an adjustment.  I experienced immediate pain relief which had a profound effect on me even at that young age.  It was at that time I knew I would someday become a chiropractor.

Dr. DePietro received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois in 1989.  He also received a Bachelors in Human Biology from the National College of Chiropractic. While attending the National College of Chiropractic, Dr. DePietro was a teaching assistant in the Biochemistry and Nutrition Department from 1987 through 1989. He then, performed his internship at the National College of Chiropractic Clinics located in Lombard, Illinois. He received his Ohio license in 1990 and has been practicing in Lancaster, Ohio since that time.  He is a member of the National College of Chiropractic Alumni Association, Ohio State Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association and Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics.  He is board certified as a diplomate in the specialty of chiropractic orthopedics and is a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedics.

Dr. DePietro has been married for 18 years to his, "wonderful woman, Jenny." Jenny is employed by the local YMCA as a preschool teacher and together, they parent three beautiful children, Meghan, Christopher and Ryan.  All three children attend Lancaster schools and are involved in competitive swimming.

Dr. DePietro pursues multiple hobbies; running, golfing and working out.  He loves spending time with his children as they compete in swim meets and he helps to organize the parents of his children's swim teams.

He is President of the Lancaster YMCA swim parents steering committee and a committee member of the Lancaster Country Club swim team.

Dr. DePietro also has a multifaceted focus for his health. All facets play an important role in the regulation of his well-being; exercise, a healthy diet and the restorative power of sleep.

I exercise regularly and incorporate multiple regimens in my exercise program.  Stretching to avoid injury and maintain flexibility is critical before engaging in running or working out.  My diet consists of a high level of whole foods with a large proportion being fruits and vegetables.  I limit foods high in fat and simple sugars and, instead, eat complex carbohydrates. Getting 8-9 hours of sleep daily helps to fuel my body and mind for the next day to be lived to the fullest.

Dr. James Asks some important questions of interest to Lancaster residents - Chiropractor Lancaster Dr. James Asks...

How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a Lancaster chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.
